Challenges
- The bank is using Siebel CRM 7.5 with approx 1000 users in the North America region
- Siebel upgrades required a corresponding complex desktop synchronization software upgrade
- Calendar Synchronization between Siebel and Lotus Notes plagued with incorrect mapping between Siebel Calendar and Lotus Notes Calendar
Solution
- eseSync™ introduced to replace desktop installed synchronization software
- eseSync™ was reconfigured to work with Weblogic instead of its out-of-the-box configuration of JBOSS
- eseSync™ was configured to work with bank standard database platform (DB2)
- The Bank Support staff updated the key field mappings between Siebel and Lotus Notes
- A separate object manager (eseSync™ Object Manager) was created in Siebel CRM to manage eseSync™ sessions separately from user connection sessions
- The Bank Support staff configured Domino Servers to allow CORBA DIIOP connections to eseSync™ Application
- No further desktop installations were required to initiate calendar and contact synchronizations
- Synchronization occurs in background every 30 seconds

Overview
- Delivered working Calendar Synchronization using eseSync™ to global user population
- No further desktop installations required for synchronizing calendar data
- Synchronization independent of Client to Server network infrastructure. Key advantage for international users in low bandwidth areas or users using SFA through Citrix
- Synchronization managed centrally and users have ability to register themselves through Siebel UI
- Synchronization occurs seamlessly in the background with user intervention
Challenges
- The Bank was using Siebel SFA 8.x with approx 2500 users that included a large number of international users on disparate workstation configurations and low bandwidth network areas
- Siebel upgrades required corresponding complex desktop synchronization upgrades
- Calendar Synchronization between Siebel and Lotus Notes plagued with incorrect mapping between Siebel Calendar and Lotus Notes Calendar
- The Bank needed a scalable platform to support integration efforts with similar systems i.e. provide the ability to synchronize CRM data between SFA and bank SFA applications
Solution
- eseSync™ introduced to replace desktop installed synchronization software
- eseSync™ was updated to support multiple directory servers
- Talikos staff reconfigured eseSync™ mappings to support The Bank SFA and Lotus Notes
- Talikos staff provide ongoing support of application
- A separate object manager (eseSync™ Object Manager) was created in Siebel CRM to manage eseSync™ sessions separately from user connection sessions
- The Bank Support staff configured Domino Servers to allow CORBA DIIOP connections to eseSync™ Application
- Synchronization was configured to occur in background every 5 minutes
- Users in Asia, Europe, South America, Middle East, Africa synchronize with no performance difference
